Home Learning Guidelines
Home learning provides an opportunity for students to independently practise skills, complete tasks and prepare for future learning. Home learning enables parents to engage with what is happening in the classroom and it allows a richer connection between home and school.
All students have home learning folders that are standardised across the school. Home learning that relates to our school wide unit may vary from class to class. Spec home learning is specific to the topic currently being undertaken by students.
All students at Tawa Intermediate School have the same home learning requirements for:
Basic Facts
Students need to practice their basic fact stage using the sheet provided by the classroom teacher. Basic fact sheets can also be downloaded off the school’s website. Go to ‘Our Links/Homework’
Reading
All students must complete two reading sheets each term. Students can get the reading sheets from their classroom or they can be downloaded from the school’s website. Go to ‘Our Links/Home Learning.
Spelling
All students have a weekly list of spelling words to learn. Lists related to the TIS Spelling programme can be downloaded from the school’s website. Go to ‘Our Links/Home Learning’.
