Welcome to Tui Syndicate’s Home Learning page
Expectations
In Tui syndicate there will be an emphasis on managing self (Key Competency). So you may need to ask your parents to help you with the following tasks:
- Read
for at least 15 minutes a night. This could be reading to yourself, reading for someone else or sharing the reading with others in the family. It’s a great idea to talk about what you are reading. Reading resources are available at the
school library and Tawa Library.
- Practise your basic facts tests.
- Practise your spelling.
- Complete at least five of the unit tasks from different sections each term.
Spelling
We will be using the Essential Spelling lists and the De’Ath Spelling
Programme. Once you have been assigned a spelling level you will be
given a list or a book in class that will be your weekly spelling list.
You are expected to write out your spelling list into your spelling homework book and complete some of the following at home:
- Write each word 5 times (Audition, audition, audition, audition, audition).
- Write each word in its own sentence (Mary had a singing audition at school).
- Create your own word puzzle from your spelling list.
- Draw five words you find difficult into pictures.
Basic Facts
The forms for basic facts can
be downloaded from the link on the school Home page. You can also ask your teacher
to give you the forms each week.
Unit Tasks
Each term you will be given a sheet with a range of activities to
complete. You are expected to pick five activities from different
sections and present these any way you like. Be creative!
You will find the Unit Tasks for each term under Resources in the top right corner of this page.
It is your responsibility to get your parents to check that you have completed the work each week!
