The Beep Test is a 20m multistage fitness test that is a commonly used to measure maximal running aerobic fitness. Tawa Intermediate uses the test to assess the development of student’s fitness across the year.
This test involves continuous running between two lines 20m apart in time to recorded beeps. Students stand behind one of the lines facing the second line, and begin running when instructed by the CD. The speed at the start is quite slow. Students continue running between the two lines, turning when signalled by the recorded beeps. Each minute, a sound indicates an increase in speed, and the beeps get closer together.
