CARETAKER / GROUNDSPERSON
Tawa Intermediate is a community-centered school that has the welfare of staff, our children and their whānau at its heart. We are looking for a new caretaker/groundsperson to ensure we offer a safe and welcoming physical environment for our community.
Responsibilities will include:
general maintenance of school property
liaising with tradespeople and cleaners
supporting our rubbish and recycling systems
some gardening and lawn cutting
This role would suit someone who works well independently, is flexible and takes pride in their work. You should be a hands-on problem solver, experienced in DIY (ideally with a trade background), and have a basic understanding of plumbing and electrical systems. A current driver's licence is also necessary. The job requires a level of physical fitness in order to complete some tasks eg: heavy lifting.
We offer a positive and friendly work environment with a supportive and inclusive workplace culture. This is a 35 hours a week, 52 weeks a year role however the job can be shaped to respond to individual circumstances. Terms & conditions are in accordance with the School Caretakers, Cleaners’ and Canteen Staff Collective Agreement but salary can be negotiated to reflect the applicant's expertise & experience.
