I grew up in Lower Hutt but have lived in Tawa since 2006. I have two children. My son started year 7 in 2025 and my daughter will start year 7 in 2027. They both spent their primary school time at Redwood. I really enjoy connecting with the Tawa community through my children's participation in club sports including with Tawa AFC, North City Cricket Club, Tawa Softball and Tawa Junior Hockey Club, where I coached for a couple of years.
I currently work as a manager at the Financial Markets Authority but have had a variety of roles in both the public and private sector over the course of my career, including at PwC and Inland Revenue and spent several years working overseas in London.
Intermediate is an important transitional age for our tamariki. I want to contribute to making sure they have an environment where it is safe for them to learn and grow so that they are prepared for their next stage of learning and development at secondary school..

Hi! My name is Catherine and I’m a mum to three amazing children.
I am passionate about equal opportunities within the education sector and believe in
instilling good educational foundations both at home and within the school setting. I love
to see my children thrive at school and see their growing potential by being well
supported on their learning journeys. All students have the right to an excellent
education, and I want to be part of a team who ensures each student has the
opportunity to be the best they can be.
I have worked in large government departments in varying roles with my recent ones
being within the Youth Justice operational policy team for Oranga Tamariki and currently
within the Office of the Children’s Commission - inspecting places where children are
detained using the Optional Protocol to the Convention against Torture (OPCAT)
mandate. I am also the current Club Captain for the Paremata-Plimmerton Netball Club
and manage and coach various school sports teams.
I am an unrelenting child advocate with excellent communication skills who wants to
ensure that Tawa Intermediate School continues to provide excellence in education.

Kia Ora, my name is Tim Griffiths. I joined the TIS Board earlier this year and have loved getting to meet the members of the Board and learn more about the school, especially what it does for its students and the community. I work as the CFO for Bupa a nationwide aged care business and enjoy bringing the skills I’ve gained through my career to help support the school and the local community. When not working I’m involved in sports including coaching some of my kids teams.

Kia ora koutou. Ko Rangituhi te maunga ngākau nui ki au. Ko Te Kenepuru stream te awa ngākau nui ki au. No Te Whanganui a Tara ahau. E noho ana ahau i Tawa.
My husband and I have lived in Tawa for over 13 years and have tamariki at Hampton Hill School, Tawa Intermediate and Tawa College. I work as an ECE teacher and am currently studying for a postgraduate diploma in specialist teaching at Massey University. As a board member, I bring with me an understanding of how important it is for ākonga to feel safe, valued and respected so they can succeed in their learning. I have a strong connection to our local community, am passionate about inclusion, and want to continue to support kaiako and our principal to make Tawa Intermediate a place where all students can thrive. I believe strong schools are built on strong relationships. I value collaboration, shared knowledge and open communication and will continue to advocate for high-quality teaching and learning, staff wellbeing, inclusive practices, and learning environments where every tamaiti is valued and supported to reach their full potential.

Kohe Webster
Parent Representative
Kia ora, my name is Kohe Webster. I am a long-time Tawa resident, having lived here since 1997. Both my wife and I are former students of Tawa Intermediate, and we now have four daughters — three of whom have attended or are currently attending the school. We’ve been active in our daughters’ education over the years, regularly supporting school trips, camps, planting days, and coaching netball. Professionally, I’ve worked at Wellington City Council for over 17 years in roles ranging from operations management to Māori partnerships. I currently work in Mataaho Aronui, the Māori Strategic Relations team as a coordinator (Tōtoru-ā-whare), helping to ensure iwi and hapori Māori aspirations are embedded in high-level decision-making. I bring experience in leadership, coordination, and a deep personal commitment to equity and inclusion. I understand how important it is that all children — especially Māori and other underrepresented learners — feel supported and seen. I have a daughter who deals with dyslexia, and our family’s journey through education has helped shape my desire to ensure schools are compassionate and inclusive. I am passionate about helping our school be the best it can be for all our tamariki. I am honoured to serve our community on the Board. Ngā mihi nui, Kohe Webster
Prisca Macdonald
Principal
Tēnā koutou.
I began my Principalship of Tawa Intermediate in July 2022, having worked in a range of leadership roles within schools and the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand.
I work closely with the Board and staff to ensure that ākonga / learners have a successful two years here at Tawa Intermediate. We think of our learners holistically and are passionate about meeting their emotional, social, physical and spiritual / purposeful living needs. I ensure that the Board is aware of those needs and therefore able to appropriately resource and support the school to meet them.
I was born and raised in Otautahi / Christchurch but moved up to the Kapiti Coast with my two children in 2012. I am passionate about life-long learning and well-being and am delighted to be part of the innovative Tawa Intermediate Community.
