Student participation in Māori culture is woven directly into daily learning, school traditions, and extracurricular life. Students engage with tikanga and te reo Māori through everyday practices like karakia, waiata, and school-wide mihi whakatau to welcome new whānau and guests. A major cornerstone of cultural involvement is participation in kapahaka;  embodying storytelling, whakapapa, history, and cultural expression.   Beyond performance, students explore te ao Māori through hands-on learning during key events like Matariki while also learning about local mana whenua history and values such as manaakitanga  and whakawhanaungatanga.
